Hello,
I'm Erin Madigan White (she/her), a journalist turned communications and marketing professional, and a writer for children and young adults.
As a kid, I spent hours writing and drawing in my journal. As I got older, I learned the power of words and the joy of sharing stories with others. Eventually, writing became my career! I spent 15 years as a journalist, then communications director for news organizations such as The Associated Press, TIME and Fortune. I earned a journalism degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and an MFA in creative writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. These days, when I'm not writing stories for kids, I work in communications and marketing for education and arts organizations, and I teach creative writing workshops for young people.
I may look like a VERY SERIOUS writer in the picture above, but humorous stories are my jam. Speaking of jam … I prefer strawberry. Some other favorites? Uncontrollable laughter, grumpy cats, and bottomless cups of coffee. I love traveling to new places and returning to old ones. Maybe that's why books are my most-favorite thing of all. Good books take us places. Stories can make us feel seen, and allow us to see beyond the boundaries of our imaginations.
Everyone has a story. Let's write.
